Situated between a rail line and I-195, a major highway artery in Southern Massachusetts, the area surrounding Battleship Cove is the most visible part of Fall River. The site features an industrial heritage, containing an ensemble of old textile mills, a chemical distribution warehouse, and miscellaneous WWII and Cold War-era naval vessels collected from different nations and eras. This design employs the model-making technique of kitbashing to allow for the introduction new construction that would reconcile with the nature of the site as a collection of historical and industrial artifacts and is conceived as an assembly of architectural forms collected from the ships and surrounding structures.
